“Music is therapy. Music moves people. It connects people in ways that no other medium can. It pulls heart strings. It acts as medicine” -Macklemore

Music is one of the most powerful forces, it has the ability to transport us to another place and time entirely. Have you ever listened to a song you use to blast in high school and suddenly find yourself knowing every word while becoming flooded with memories circa Summer 2004?

Music also has the ability to help us heal, finding lyrics that express our deepest fears or complex feelings can help us feel understood, validated and connected. Hence the success of Taylor Swift or Kelly Clarkson creating the perfect “break up anthem” when your boyfriend did you wrong.

We can also use music to help pull us out of a funk or depressive pit by interrupting our negative thought patterns. You just try belting Cruel Summer in your car with the windows and tell me it doesn’t help boost your mood.

Take a few minutes to create an uplifting playlist on Spotify, hell create one for all the moods. I’ve got one for when my toddler is pushing every button and for when I need a little “girl power”.

Tune in, you might be surprised what memories your have and how much better you can feel๐ŸŽผ
